Abstract

A multi-coloured display consists of an array of display elements each of which has the same number of faces (54-57). Each face is differently coloured so that each element is capable of presenting a contrast to the other elements whereby a selected pattern may be formed to provide an information display. Each display element has a body (50), and a base (52). A magnetic coil array (71-74) on the base (52) is selectively energised to provide a pre-determined pole pattern to which a magnetic follower (62) on the body (50) responds to place a selected face into view. A control system is used to rotate the selected elements in the array by appropriately energising selected coils.
