Abstract

To prevent a down draught in a chimney, a cowl is fitted which has a series of plates (10) one above the other, spaced apart above the chimney (9). The top and bottom plates are dished, and all are ring shaped. They are supported by vertical rods (11) passing through them. Between the top two plates is a dished circular plate (12) which is larger in dia. than the hole through the top plate. The gas outlet space provided by the stack of plates is greater than the area of the chimney outlet. The assembly is held in position by at least two tubes (21) which are bent against the inside of the chimney, tensioned by a screwed spindle (17) with wing nut (18) attached. This passes down the middle suspended from the dished circular plate (12).
