Abstract

The packing takes the form of a toroidal rosette in which spiral filaments are placed in a helix, relative to the centre of the circular rosette. The facing sides of the filaments have >=1 projection at 90 degrees to the surface of the side. Near the outer part of the rosette the filaments are connected to each other by a sinusoidal filament which also has 90 degrees projections from its sides. The packing may be used in gas washers, absorption and desorption towers; in gas-liq. or liq. gas enriching systems; in dust traps; in chemical deodorisers; in cooling towers; bacterial beds for water treatment; denitrification beds, catalysers etc. The packing offers a high efficiency and subsidence is practically eliminated. The pressure loss across it is small. It is light and therefore reduces encumbrance of the appts.
