Abstract

The adjustable spanner has a fixed (4) and a mobile (5) jaw mounted on a hand-lever (2) and the active jaw faces have 'V'-section notches or grooves (4a, 5a). The concavities formed by the grooves are in direct opposition, and the grooves may locate symmetrically about a plane (x-x) which is parallel to that traversed by the mobile jaw (5). One of the jaws may have an opening (6) for a serrated wheel (7) by which the mobile jaw (5) is displaced and locked in position. The wheel (7) is mounted on axle of which the ends are located by sockets on opposite sides of the opening, and is engaged by a tooth projecting from the mobile jaw (5). Alternative forms of the spanner may be in folded or pressed metal sheet.
