Abstract

The collector is formed of a circular disc (1) which is held in a casing with a transparent top and insulated sides with an insulated base. The disc is assembled from an upper plate which is flat and a lower plate. The lower plate has a spiral recess (2) pressed in it and is welded to the upper plate along the ridges between the turns of the recess. This forms a spiral coil for the heat transfer fluid which enters the coil at its outer end (3) and leaves at the centre of the disc (4). The spiral arrangement raises the temperature difference between the liquid entry and exit.
