Abstract
The collector has a tubular coil (2) of transparent material. The coil is held on a reflective support (9) which has a semi-circular recess for each leg of the coil. A prismatic refractor (11) above the coil directs incident radiation (F) onto the separate legs of the coil. The whole assembly is held in a rectangular casing (1). The coil is traversed by a liquid capable of absorbing the whole spectrum of solar radiation. It can be water or oil with suitable colouring or additives. Fine metal particles are appropriate for the purpose. The liquid contains secondary particles which may be a metal oxide to absorb the secondary radiation emitted by the first particles. The coil is connected directly to a domestic heating circuit.
