Abstract

The metal casing (1) of the solar energy collector is square in shape, having a flat bottom and upturned sides. Around the edges is a reflector (5), of polished chrome or stainless steel, inclined at an angle to the sides. The casing is part filled with an insulating material (3), sealed by the water heating element (2). This has a flat bottom (7) and a top (8) formed by square recesses over its surface, top and bottom being welded together at intervals (9) to form channels; inlet and outlet connections (10) are provided. A glass panel (4) fits over the heating element, lodging on the angled sides and another panel (6) is placed over this.
