Abstract

Derivs. of piperidine-spirohydantoin, of the type described in the parent patent, are of formula (I) (where R is 9-17C alkyl). C.f. the cpds. described in the parent patent, these piperidine-spirohydantoin derivs. have a better compatibility with synthetic polymers, and show better photo-stabilising properties. (I) is prepd. by reacting 1,3,8-triaza-7,7,9,9-tetramethyl-3,8-bis(2-hydroxy ethyl)-spiro 4,5 decane-2,4-dione with a satd. aliphatic 10-18C carboxylic acid or a reactive deriv. of such an acid.
