Abstract

Water and gas (esp. CO2) are fed continuously into the vessel until gas pressure is sufficient to arrest inflow of water. When gasified, esp. carbonated, water is drawn off, the liq. level in the vessel drops to allow gas to escape via a purge valve. This permits water to spray in rapidly until the purge valve is covered and closed, so that gas pressure can build up and stop the ingress of water.
