Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a ship making an efficient use of rolling or pitching of the ship body, which is formed in the bottom of the ship body near the stem of the ship with an inlet opening for drawing sea water therethrough into the ship body and an outlet opening near the stern under the water line, so as to draw sea water into the ship body and eject it out of the ship body by the use of rolling or pitching motion of the ship body and to attenuate rolling of the ship body by utilizing the reaction force produced thereby.
CONSTITUTION: An inlet opening 4 with check valve 10 is formed in the bottom 3 of ship body 1, to draw sea water therein when the ship body 1 is subjected to pitching and to eject sea water via connecting pipe 7 from outlet openings 19a formed on both sides of the ship, selectively by means of valve 23, whereby it is enabled to attenuate rolling of ship body 1. At the same time, propulsive force is obtained by ejecting sea water from outlet opening 9. Further, it is also possible to make distribution of following wake uniform at the stern by ejecting sea water from another outlet opening 9a formed upwardly of propeller 12
