Abstract

Articles réfractaires isolants, par exemple sous forme de plaquettes, qui subissent une réaction exothermique quand ils sont mis aux contact d'un métal en fusion. Ces articles comprennent en poids 8 à 20 % d'un métal oxydable finement divisé, 5 à 25 % d'une matière réfractaire fibreuse et 5 à 20 % d'une perlite expansée ayant une masse volumique à l'état non tassé inférieure à 0,15 g/cm**3, la masse volumique de l'ensemble de l'article étant inférieure à 0,75 g/cm** 3. Ces articles sont utilisés en métallurgie, par exemple comme revêtements des extrémités supérieures des lingotières ou comme manchons de trous de coulée.
