Abstract

A gear tooth hydraulic pump has its thrust bearing pads (3b)(4b) pressed against the end faces of the gera(1a, 1 b) by oil pressure in the cavities formed in the end cover(7). This pressure minimises the leakage losses across the pump. In order to prevent a tipping moment on the bearing pads(3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) the sealing rings(14a, 14b) are fitted in annular grooves which are eccentric to the axes of the gear wheels. The centre of pressure on the thrust pad is thus made to coincide with the centre of pressure on the gear teeth.
