Abstract

The calibrating machine uses a finishing brush and a press (9) to make fine adjustments to the finished height of freshly cast concrete blocks (1). The blocks are fed by conveyor (3) to the calibration station where the machinery is mounted on a portal framework (50) straddling the conveyor. The blocks pass beneath the brush and then the press and the conveyor stops and restarts automatically to determine the pressing phase. The brush may be driven by a motor and applies adjustable pressure to the top surface of the blocks. The press may be operated by a jack (17) and may have a floating plate (9). The rod of the jack acts on a primary plate (16) which transmits force to the floating plate through elastic suspension bearings (15).
