Abstract

The coupling device with positive and automatic locking is for use on pipework carrying pressurised fluids. The device has a male element (1) with flange (9) and is sleeved with a bush (2) conically holed to receive rollers (5). The male element (1) has ridge (12) giving roller groove (10). The bush (2) has sleeve (4) around it which shoulders onto a female element (3), and is held captive between a spring (6) and retainer clip (8). The female element (3) has sealing ring (7) and groove (11) both male (1) and female (3) elements are fastened to pipes (A, B). When the male element (1) moves in direction, (f) it pushes the roller (5) and hence the bush (2) compressing the spring (6) so that roller enters groove (11), thus allowing the ridge (12) to pass inside it. The roller can then enter groove (10), the spring extends and the bush (2) passes over it forming a lock and bringing the seal (7 ) into effect.
