Abstract

A load (8) is attached to the undersurface of an aircraft by pivoted arms (12) mounted on a support plate (1). A control rod (7) in the shape of an inverted T has a slot (11) which engages a pin (10) in the end of a lever (9) pivoted on the plate (1). When the control rod (7) is pushed downwards, the lever (9) is rotated so that the arm (12) swings outwards to release the load (8). The rod (7) is then pulled upwards causing the arm (12) to swing inwards to the horizontal position retracting it within the aircraft, thus reducing drag.
