Abstract

A flanged mandrel enclosed between split mould blocks is used to heat and reshape the ends of flexible thermoplastic or rubber (sic) tubing to hold captive part of an external coupling. The tubing is pushed along the mandrel until softened material at the end of the tube fills a suitably shaped mould cavity alongside the flange on the mandrel. The moulded end is intrinsically self-centering.
