Abstract

The heat pump has a condenser in which the refrigerant is condensed by heat exchange with cold make up water. The heated water can be delivered directly to outlets or to a storage cylinder which can be equipped with supplementary electric heating. The heat pump has an evaporator in which the refrigerant is evaporated by heat exchange with waste water which is then discharged to the drains. The waste water is drawn from a reservoir in which it is stored until needed and in which solids in it can settle. There is a heat exchanger in which heat is transferred directly from the waste to make up water before they enter the evaporator and condenser respectively.
