Abstract

The central heating and hot water system has a fuel-burning heat source providing make-up heat for the water before it flows through radiators or is used for washing etc. The main heat source is formed by a number of heat -recovery units, notably a roof-mounted solar heating panel and a heat exchanger mounted in the stale air discharge conduit from the building. The refrigerating liquid of a heat pump heats the water before returning to an evaporator where it absorbs the excess calories from the recovery units. These units also include a heat exchanger in the flue of the fuel-burning source, and are connected in series in a single hydraulic circuit incorporating a tank which the heat pump evaporator is immersed in. The refrigerating liquid is cooled successively in a first heat exchanger immersed in a washing water tank, and a second heat exchanger acting as a condenser immersed in the heating water tank.
