Abstract
A central turbine is supported on and rotates round a vertical column. It has a hub with projecting blades on which the wind impinges. Auxiliary turbines are arranged in a semi-circular ring round the central one. Each has a rotor with radially projecting blades. The turbines are vertical and the shafts are connected to the shaft of the central turbine by gear trains at the upper and lower ends. Deflector blades guide the wind onto the central turbine. The air coming off the turbine flows over the auxiliary turbines so that its remaining kinetic energy is absorbed. Further guide blades direct this flow and also direct wind round the edges of the central turbine straight onto the auxiliary ones.
