Abstract

The neck comprises a prod. outlet tube fitted with a stopper at the top and bottom with an integral external, skirted, annular flange formed at the bottom. The skirt spring clips into a hole in the top of the container. The neck is clamped to the container by an elastic ring which is inserted by force into an annular channel formed in the neck between the pipe and the retention skirt. The clamping ring exerts an outward, radial force on the skirt which is thus firmly gripped between the ring and the shoulder of the container hole. Used for closing filled containers of fluid, partic. cans of liq. food prod. which requires sterilising or pasteurising, e.g. fruit syrups. Bacteria is prevented from reaching prod. via clearance between neck skirt and shoulder of can hole. Such clearance was possible in previous appts. after pasteurising temp. weakens grip of skirt on shoulder. The neck assembly is easily produced, neat, cheap, effective and inexpensive.
