Abstract
A method of generating high-intensity X-rays and directing them on to an object from a stationary annular target surrounding the object consists of generating a high-power electron beam along a longitudinal axis (Z-Z) parallel to the axis of the annulus; this electron beam is selectively directed onto preselected points around a target by means of selectively activated electro-magnetic elements; on striking these points of the annular target, X-rays are generated and are directed towards the object. Selected aberrations which are imposed upon the beam by orienting or directing elements are corrected. For use in conjunction with a computer-tomography sensing system. The appts. possesses no moving parts; the limitations resulting from space-charge forces and field aberrations are reduced to a minimum. The beam can be deflected over long distances and directed onto a target with accurate results.
