Abstract
Removal of CO2 and/or H2S and/or other acid gases from a mixt. of gases consists of curing an absorbing soln. which is put into intimate contact with the gas mixt. in an absorption column, and regenerating the absorbent soln., expelling the acid gases before recycling the gas to the absorption column. The regeneration step consists of removing a quantity of the soln. and contacting it directly with water vapour in a regeneration zone (C) or by boiling it a regeneration column, by supplying heat to the outside. The heat contained in the soln. currents leaving the regeneration column is used to extract a current of steam from the regenerated soln., removing simultaneously part of the acid gas contained therein. Specifically, the steam current is extracted in a zone by redn. of the pressure of the regenerated soln. from the regeneration column in conditions such that the water vapour released is used to improve the degree of regeneration. The steam released in zone C is circulated spontaneously to zone C' and used as regeneration steam in C'. Zones C and C' are held at the same or a lower pressure than that in the regeneration column. The thermocompressors used in the parent patent are replaced by other methods and devices better adapted to the new working conditions.
