Abstract

A refrigerant compressor has a motor within a sealed capsule (11). A dividing partition (14) has a shaft bearing and carries the compressor cylinder (15) on its other side. The motor shaft (13) is extended through the partition and has an eccentric (18) on its end. A piston (17) within the cylinder (15) is driven from the eccentric by a connecting rod (19). The eccentric (18) on the shaft does not extend as far as the centreline of the connecting rod. The big end bearing (20) in the connecting rod is larger than the eccentric. The two are connected by a bush (21) which is pressed in after the shaft and connecting rod are in position. This makes it possible for components requiring little space to be assembled.
