Abstract
The mixture is first introduced into a chamber of reduced diameter (1) forming part of a two phase centrifugal separator. It is fed tangentially through a pipe (2) and flange (3) into a chamber (4) outside the first chamber. The mixture is then spun at high speed, to give initial separation. The speed is then reduced and the mixture enters a conical chamber (4). This can be replaced by a spiral coil arrangement. As it drops, its speed tends to increase, due to the increasing diameter of the container, and a further separation takes place. The reduction of speed is done gradually. It can be used for gas/solid, gas/liquid, gas/liquid solid and other forms of separation.
