Abstract

A fabricated wall unit is used to attenuate excess noise caused by traffic. It consists of internal profiled rods which are rigid, and form a rectangular frame for the noise insulating material. The outsides are covered by a large number of loose overlapping panel strips with folded longitudinal edges. The panel strips facing the noise absorbing side are made with perforations. The whole unit is surrounded by a U shaped profile section which acts as a seal against water. The panel strips are spring loaded profiled laminae preferably made from aluminium and are clamped together. A number of the panels are installed next to each other to form the complete wall.
