Abstract
The contact controls d.c. or mains frequency supply current to a solenoid or an electromagnetic load. It has a transformer with a primary winding isolating the testing device from the load circuit containing the tested contact. The test is effective whether the load circuit carries current or not. The miniature transformer (T) primary winding (N1) is connected in series with a measurement resistor (RD), and is excited by a high frequency signal (e1). The secondary winding (N2) is permanently connected to the contact (K) which can temporarily short-circuit it. The ratio of the primary winding turns to its secondary winding turns is greater than/and is typically 2.
