Abstract

A sheet of paper is automatically placed and held in position on a motor driven drum of a copying machine while a moving head reads or writes information. A sheet of paper (60) driven by rollers (62, 64) rotating min opposite directions enters a clamp (14) and is gripped between the end (22) of the clamp and a lip (18) by force exerted by a spring (24). The driving rollers release the paper and as the drum (10) rotates the paper is pressed against the drum by a roller (68). The free end of the sheet is held in a second clamp (26) in an opening (36) in the drum.
