Abstract
An IC engine has a water tube (3) with numerous outlets running close above the exhaust pipe (2). A pump (1) draws water from a reservoir and discharges it through the tube over the exhaust pipe. Some of the water evaporates and is collected in a hood which surrounds the tube and exhaust pipe. The resulting steam is let into the intake manifold (7) of the engine and introduced into the cylinders with the fuel mixture. It is heated during combustion of the fuel and the resulting expansion adds to the motive power obtained from the engine. A valve operated by lever (5) connected to the throttle control (6) of the engine allows the quantity of steam added to be controlled.
