Abstract

The heat exchangers consist of a bundle of tubes over which a large number of plates are mounted, with the plates at right angles to the centreline of the tubes. The tubes are placed in a regular pattern, while the plates are mounted over the tubes at equal distances to one another. The tubes used are of non circular section, to increase the heat exchange area. Tubes and heat exchanger plates are secured to one another by mandrels which are forced through the bores of the tubes and slightly expand the tubes. The shape of the mandrel matches the section of the tubes.
