Abstract

A clip (1) for joining a flexible pipe to a metal pipe consists of a metal band with one end attached to a bolt (4) with a threaded end (3) which engages serrations in the opposite end of the metal band. The bolt has two hexagonal heads (5, 8) separated by a groove (10) which forms a shear neck. The clip is tightened on the flexible pipe by applying a spanner to the outer hexagonal head (5). When the required tightening torque has been reached the head (5) is twisted off at the shear neck. This ensures that the clip has been tightened sufficiently to prevent any leaks but not excessively so as to damage the flexible pipe. The inner head (8) is used for undoing the clip.
