Abstract

The sliding vane rotary compressor has a rotor (2) with stub shafts (5) running in bearings (6). The rotor has four equally spaced radial slots (9) which form guides for the sliding vanes (3, 3'). Each pair of opposed vanes are connected to each other by tension springs attached to guides (14) which run in holes (12) in the centre of the rotor. When the rotor rotates, the vanes are forced outwards by centrifugal force against the housing bore. By connecting opposite pairs vanes the centrifugal forces are very nearly balanced so that there is less friction between the tip of each vane and the cylinder bore. This results in a considerable increase in the mechanical efficiency.
