Abstract

The cavities in the cable core are filled with a sealing material (2) which adheres well to the insulation of the wires and to the sheath surrounding the cable core. The highly viscous sealing material (2) is in this case forced out of a container (1) into a chamber in which it is pressed around and into the cable core. In order to ensure continuous feeding of cold sealing material (2) for plugging the cable core even if there are air bubbles in the sealing material supply in the container (1), the sealing material (2) is fed out of the container (1) by means of a pump (10) which is arranged in an opening in a pressure plate (3). The pressure is continuously measured and held by means of a pressure switch (12). If the pressure on the pressure side of the pump (10) falls below a minimum pressure, a pressure valve (15) is opened, and the pressure valve (15) is closed again when the pressure exceeds the minimum pressure. This pressure valve (15) is arranged in a tube (14) which projects through the pressure plate (3) into the container (1), in order to allow the air bubbles to escape.
