1296339 Impregnating cables FELTEN & GUILLEAUME KABELWERKE AG 11 Aug 1971 [11 Aug 1970] 37645/71 Heading D1L An elongated body, such as a cable 9, formed of individual elements, such as insulated conductors, has the interstices between the elements filled with material whilst the body is passed through a closed chamber from an inlet die 10 to an outlet die 14, the fluid filling material in the chamber being continuously pumped thereto from a heated vessel 1, and continuously recycled back to the vessel via a pipe 4 and an adjustable control valve 5. The chamber consists of a tube 6 of thermally insulating material and a tapering tube 7 of metal, these interconnecting by a coupling 8, and the inlet and outlet dies and/or the tubular metal part 7 may be cooled to prevent escape of filling material, this being petroleum jelly for example. The filling material may be under pressure, this pressure being shown on a gauge 12.
