Abstract

On a shuttleless loom, the invention comprises a sley, on which is mounted a belt, driven at each end by a cog wheel. Two electromagnets are mounted in a groove in the belt. Two weft carriers have opposite poles, and when the belt turns, the magnets pull the carriers through the shed. The carriers draw the weft through the shed, being mounted on a special rail. Known devices for inserting weft include shuttles, lances and water jets. Such devices may lack speed or precision, and may not be capable of special weft effects. With this device, it is possible to insert weft of different colours and sizes, to create shaded fabrics, checks, and cloths of unusual design, swiftly and correctly.
