Abstract
A relay comprises a magnetic circuit having a yoke of two branches (1, 2) joined by a permanent magnet (3). A movable armature (4) overcomes the restoring force of the spring (5) which is slightly less than the attractive force of the flux of the magnet. A driving circuit (7) is wound on the branches of the yoke in such a way that for a given direction of the driving current flow, it generates a flux opposite to that of the magnet, of sufficient magnitude to release the mobile armature (4). The permanent magnet consists of a low remanence magnetic alloy whose reversible relative permeability is between 5 and 25 and whose coercive force is between 2500 and 20,000. Ampere turns per metre.
