Abstract

A clutch for an automobile has a cover (10), a diaphragm (11) and a support ring (27) which are connected by a number of short pillars (28). Short straps (61) connect pairs of adjacent pillars together with a consequent increase in rigidity. These straps fit over the ends of the pillars (28) which are then riveted over to retain the strap. These straps not only reduce the wear on the pillars but also prevent eccentricity of the support ring (27) with respect to the axis of the assembly.
