Abstract

A Zn alloy with a high creep strength is described. The alloy contains 0.2-5% Cu, 0.2-3% Al, >=1 of the four elements Mn, Cr, V or Ni in amts. 0.3-3% Mn, 0.01-0.5% Cr 0.01-0.5% V or 0.2-0.5% Ni, and balance Zn. The alloy can be used in a number of forms including roller, cast, or worked. The Zn alloy shows a high creep strength in the solid state. The liq. alloy as aggressive towards steel as conventional Zn-Al alloys and is suitable for press. die-casting. The castability is alos very good.
