Abstract
The plasma configuration includes a central toroidal plasma with electrical currents surrounded by a generally ellipsoidal mantle of ionised particles or electrically conducting matter. The methods of forming this compound plasma configuration include the steps of forming a helical ionised path in a gaseous medium and simultaneously discharging a high potential through the ionised path. A helical or heliform current is produced which collapses on itself to produce a toroidal current. An alternative method is to generate a toroidal plasmid, supply magnetic energy to the plasmid, and apply fluid pressure external to the plasmid. The apparatus includes a pressure chamber where the compound plasma configuration can be isolated or compressed.
