Abstract

Selon l'invention, on traite l'acide benzoïque obtenu, à chaud, par une petite quantité d'une amine de formule H2 N-R dans laquelle R représente l'hydrogène, un groupe alkyle en C1 -C4 ou cycloalkyle en C5 -C6 , ou d'un sel d'une telle amine, en procédant simultanément ou, à la suite, à une distillation ou une sublimation de manière connue en soi, on fait ensuite réagir avec de la lessive de soude et on traite par extraction au toluène et/ou par distillation à la vapeur d'eau de manière connue en soL Le benzoate de sodium obtenu conformément à l'invention répond aux exigences des pharmacopées des principales nations.
