Abstract

The respiratory gas supply system is for use in a diving helmet or mask for breathing in rarefied or toxic atmospheres, where there is an expander with a chamber having a flexible wall subjected to the ambient pressure where the user is working. This chamber is connected to a mouthpiece, and to the gas supply via an inlet valve in the chamber and actuated by the flexible wall movements. The wall has two diaphragms (4) separated by an intervening space, into which a medium is delivered at regular intervals and at adjustable frequency and rate. The resulting distortion of the diaphragms actuates the inlet valve.
