Abstract

L'invention concerne des matériaux réfractaires céramiques en zircone partiellement stabilisée par de la chaux, caractériés en ce qu'ils contiennent de 3,3 à 4,7 % en poids de chaux. Leur microstructure fine se compose de domaines quadratiques de dimensions déterminées à l'intérieur d'une matrice de grains cubiques Lorsque le matériau est usiné, ces domaines prennent irréversiblement une structure monoclinique dans les régions de forte contrainte, et la surface du matériau est en compression, de telle sorte que sa résistance augmente au lieu de diminuer comme elle le fait dans le cas des autres matériaux céramiques en zircone partiellement stabilisée.
