Abstract

The hinged two-strap (1, 2) pipe-collar fits a range of pipe sizes and may be used by a plumber to make a radial self-tapping connection of a service pipe onto e.g. a main water pipe (T). The collar is clamped onto the main and used successively to guide a drill-bit (M) and centre a self-tapping connector. The collar comprises guide (1) and anchor (2) straps. The straps are each of semi-circular profile (3, 4) with radially external legs (5, 6, 8, 9) and are placed in opposit-girdling the main pipe (T). One of the legs (5) of the guide-strap (1) may be forked to engage an edge-notched (7) return on one leg (6) of the anchor strap (2) and form a hinge.
