Abstract

1496022 Indicating stoppages in pipes VETCO OFFSHORE INDUSTRIES Inc 17 Feb 1975 25978/76 Divided out of 1496021 Heading F2P A set of underwater flowlines S1, S2, S3 which terminate in a flange 40a are tested for blockages by means of a testing flange 50a which is releasably secured to the flange 40a. The testing flange 50a has a passageway 53 which interconnects the flowlines S1, S2, S3 and which contains pins 54, 55, 56 located opposite the ends of the flowlines S1, S2, S3, the pins 54, 55, 56 having differently shaped heads 54a (conical), 55a (chisel) and 56a (circular). A block (not shown) of soft material such as lead mounted on a suitable pig can then be pumped down each flowline S1, S2, S3 and then pumped back to the surface using reverse circulation. The block is then inspected to determine if the appropriate pin 54, 55 or 56 had made an impression on the block, the absence of the correct shaped impression indicating a blockage in the flowline.
