Abstract

The collar has two double flanges (1) (2) which are almost semi-cylindrical and which are hinged together. They are closed together by a nut and a bolt (4) passed through two lugs (13) (22) on the flanges. One flange (1) has a tubular extension (10) used to form the branch from a pipe (5') which has an opening in it and round which is placed a sealing sleeve. The lower double flange (2) has serrations (21) on its inner semi-circular part so as to grip the pipe firmly under the action of the bolt. The flanges are hinged together by a pin (30) through aligned holes (16, 26) in the flanges. Each flange has two sets of hinge pin holes, with the holes of one flange being differently spaced from those on the other flange so that holes may be selected to provide different effective collar diameters.
