Abstract

Cette invention concerne la production de polyéthers aromatiques. Le procédé consiste à faire bouillir un solvant formé par un sulfoxyde ou une sulfone organique contenant i) un mélange équimolaire d'un bisphénol et d'un composé dihalogéné aromatique ou ii) un halogénophénol, les atomes d'halogènes de ce composé dihalogéné ou de l'halogénophénol étant activés par des groupes -SO2 - ou -CO- en position ortho ou para relativement à eux, et un carbonate de métal alcalin, avec élimination de l'eau produite par réaction, par distillation en l'absence d'un solvant formant un azéotrope. Ce procédé permet d'obtenir des produits ayant des poids moléculaires élevés avec des temps de réaction plus courts.
