Abstract

The cephalosporin of formula (I) and its salts and in vivo hydrolysable esters are new: (I) is prepd. e.g. by reacting the appropriate 7-amino cpd. with an acylating deriv. of PhCH(NH.CO.N(CH3)COPh)-COOH. (I) is a broad-spectrum antibacterial useful in treatment of humans, animals or birds, esp. together with clavulanic acid or its derivs. It is administered in conventional oral, parenteral or topical formulations at 0.1-3 g/day. (I) is more effective than the cpds. of GB 1479711.
