Abstract
Le procédé décrit utilise un récipient dont le fond est muni d'un orifice d'évacuation circulaire; une buse étant disposée coaxialement par rapport à l'orifice pour éjecter verticalement vers le bas un gaz sous pression. On laisse une matière minérale fondue, par exemple une composition de verre, tomber verticalement par gravité sous la forme d'un courant cylindrique creux. La transformation en fibres de la matière fondue s'obtient en injectant vers le bas un gaz sous pression dans l'intérieur creux du courant cylindrique, et, en meme temps, en soufflant le gaz sous pression dans le courant cylindrique à partir d'une buse annulaire qui est placée sous le récipient et comporte des orifices inclines vers le bas et vers l'intérieur, suivant une disposition périphérique entourant le courant cylindrique
