Abstract

Textile treatment agents comprise (a) a cationic surfactant which is substantive to the fabric and (b) a dextrin, such as a pyrodextrin or a dextrin (e.g. British gum) substd. by >=1 anionic, non-ionic or cationic substituents. Pref. dextrins have a mol. wt. 100-40000, esp. 3000-20000 and the wt. ratio (b):(a) = 10;1 to 1:10 esp. 3:1 to 1:3. Agents are useful in laundry applications, giving cotton, cellulose and mixed cotton/polyester fabrics with improved handle and body and improved ironing characteristics, with improved resistance to creasing after ironing.
