Abstract

The pressing process embosses sheet metals to min. radii (B, D) and with sharply defined angles (A, C), and may be used to press embossed pulley wheels from sheet-metal. The resultant pulley wheels may not require spacing washers for installation. The sheet-metal (1) is pressed between a punch (3) and a die (2). An initial extension (6, 7) of the constituent metal is followed by a flattening. The faces (4, 5) of the punch and die may be chamfered, with the inclinations approx. equal, and partially overlapping one another in planes normal to their convergence. The external faces (8) of the embossments may lie within the plane defined by the pulley rim.
