Abstract

A powered elevating platform (1) forming a raisable tailgate of a light commercial vehicle, is carried by brackets (10) secured to a slider or truck (9) slidable along columns (3) anchored by brackets (4, 5) to the vehicle roof and floor (6), the brackets (10) being connected to one or two lifting rams (13) and interconnected by a transverse bar (12) which serves a pivot for the platform (1). The columns (3) are inclined upwards and inwards of the vehicle. The brackets (10) are connected to the rods of the parallel rams (13) which are attached to the brackets (4). The brackets (10) may instead be connected to cables or chains actuated by a winch or pulley blocks. A single ram may be employed, arranged axially in the vehicle and under the roof or floor of the vehicle. The ram is connected by its rod to a transverse member carrying pulleys for the cables or chains to operate them in synchronism. The platform (1) is connected to the brackets (10) by foldable arms. Abutment of the bolt (15) with the floor (6) ensures tilting of the platform (1).
